01
Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the iMathMate application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. By allowing a minor to use iMathMate, a parent or guardian accepts these Terms in full.

Plain English: Using iMathMate means you've read and accepted these rules. If you're a student under 18, your parent or guardian needs to be okay with this too.

02
Who Can Use iMathMate

iMathMate is available to users of all ages. However:

  • Users under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in their country) must have verifiable parental or guardian consent before creating an account or using the App.
  • Users aged 13–17 may use the App subject to parental awareness and consent where required by local law.
  • Users aged 18 and over may create an account independently.

We reserve the right to decline or terminate service to any user who misrepresents their age or who is found to be in violation of these Terms.

03
Your Account

When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

  • Do not share your account with others.
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account at Support@imathmate.com.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that we believe have been compromised or used in violation of these Terms.

You may delete your account at any time by contacting Support@imathmate.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

04
What We Provide

iMathMate provides an AI-assisted math tutoring experience including, but not limited to:

  • Photo-to-solution scanning (Snap & Solve)
  • Step-by-step explanations of math problems across K-12 topics
  • Quiz Mode for self-testing on mathematical concepts
  • A Saved Gallery for storing and reviewing solved problems
  • Progress tracking and streak-based motivation features
  • Support for English, French, and Arabic

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or the App itself at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

05
Acceptable Use

You agree to use iMathMate only for lawful, personal, and educational purposes. The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Using the App to cheat on assessments, exams, or any form of supervised academic evaluation where the use of AI assistance is not permitted
  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App
  • Submitting content that is defamatory, harmful, offensive, or unlawful
  • Using the App for commercial purposes without our prior written consent
  • Attempting to access systems or data beyond what is provided to you as a user
  • Creating automated queries, bots, or scripts that interact with the App without authorisation
  • Impersonating another person or providing false identity information

Academic integrity: iMathMate is a learning tool, not a shortcut. Please follow your school's policies on technology use during exams and assessments. We encourage learning through understanding, not answer-copying.

06
Content You Submit

When you submit photos, text, or other content to iMathMate (collectively, "User Content"), you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the App's features to you.

  • We do not claim ownership of your User Content.
  • We do not share your submitted photos or solutions with other users.
  • We may use aggregated, anonymised data derived from usage patterns to improve the App's accuracy and educational quality.
  • You represent that you have the right to submit any content you provide and that it does not violate the rights of any third party.

Do not submit content that contains personal information about other people, copyrighted material you do not have the right to use, or any content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.

07
Intellectual Property

All content, design, software, trademarks, logos, and intellectual property within the App — excluding User Content — are owned by iMathMate or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial educational purposes, subject to these Terms.

  • You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our express written permission.
  • The name "iMathMate," our logo, and brand assets are our trademarks. Do not use them without prior written consent.
  • AI-generated explanations and step-by-step solutions produced by the App are provided for your personal educational use only and may not be republished or sold.
08
AI-Generated Responses

iMathMate uses artificial intelligence — specifically large language models (LLMs) — to generate mathematical explanations. You should be aware of the following:

  • Responses may contain errors. While we work to maximise accuracy, AI-generated solutions are not infallible. Always verify important answers with a teacher or textbook.
  • The AI is trained to explain and teach, not to do homework for you. The value of iMathMate comes from understanding the steps — not copying the result.
  • AI outputs reflect training data and may occasionally misidentify a problem type, especially for unusual notation or ambiguous photographs.
  • We do not warrant that AI responses are 100% accurate, complete, or suitable for every curriculum standard in every country.

Important: iMathMate is an educational aid, not a replacement for qualified teaching. If you believe a solution is incorrect, please report it via Support@imathmate.com — this helps us improve.

09
Privacy & Data

Your use of iMathMate is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the App, you agree to our Privacy Policy.

Key privacy principles:

  • We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
  • We do not serve behavioural advertising within the App.
  • Photos you submit are processed to extract the math problem and are not stored indefinitely beyond what is needed to deliver the solution.
  • You may request a copy of your data or deletion of your account at any time.

For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

10
Children's Safety

The safety of children is our highest priority. We have built iMathMate with child safety as a core design principle, not an afterthought.

  • We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
  • There is no social or community feature within the App — students cannot message each other or share content with other users.
  • There are no advertisements or in-app purchases targeted at minors.
  • Parents and guardians may contact us at Privacy@imathmate.com to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's data.

iMathMate is designed to be COPPA (US) and UK GDPR / ICO Age Appropriate Design Code compliant. We take any concerns about child safety extremely seriously.

11
In-App Purchases

iMathMate is currently free to use in full. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, subject to the following:

  • Any paid features will be clearly labelled and will not restrict access to core functionality.
  • All purchases will be processed through Apple App Store or Google Play and subject to their respective payment terms and refund policies.
  • We will give users advance notice of any transition from free to paid functionality.
  • Subscriptions, if introduced, may be cancelled at any time from within your device's app store account settings.

If you have a billing question, contact Support@imathmate.com.

12
Third-Party Services

iMathMate uses third-party services to deliver certain features. Our current key service providers include:

  • Groq: Provides inference infrastructure for the LLMs used to generate mathematical explanations.
  • Expo / React Native: Cross-platform app framework.
  • AsyncStorage: Local on-device storage for saved solutions and settings.

These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We select providers carefully and only share data with them to the extent necessary to operate the App. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services beyond our reasonable control.

13
Disclaimers

iMathMate is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
  • Guarantees that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components
  • Guarantees that AI-generated solutions will be mathematically accurate in all cases
  • Guarantees that the App will meet every student's specific curriculum requirements

iMathMate is an educational aid designed to support learning. It is not a substitute for qualified teachers, examiners, or certified tutors.

14
Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, iMathMate and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Loss of data, savings, or academic outcomes
  • Errors in AI-generated mathematical solutions
  • Interruption or unavailability of the App
  • Reliance on any content provided by the App without independent verification

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim. If you have paid nothing, our liability shall be limited to the minimum amount permitted by applicable law.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities — in those cases, the above limitations apply only to the extent permitted by local law.

15
Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to iMathMate at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law.

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time by contacting Support@imathmate.com.

  • Upon termination, your licence to use the App ends immediately.
  • Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimer, and limitation of liability clauses — will remain in effect.
  • We will process data deletion requests in line with our Privacy Policy.
16
Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Notify you via in-app notification or email for material changes
  • Give you at least 14 days' notice before material changes take effect, where reasonably practicable

Your continued use of iMathMate after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App before the changes take effect.

17
Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of iMathMate shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless local law in your jurisdiction provides mandatory consumer protection rights that require otherwise — in which case those local rights are not affected.

For users in the European Union, the EU's online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution, but we will always try to resolve concerns directly first.
